
The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art in Claremont will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Samella Lewis, Scripps’ first tenured Black professor and pioneer artist. Ìý
The exhibition,Ìý,Ìýexplores Lewis’s belief in the “interrelationshipsâ€� among cultures and artistic traditions. Her early drawings and prints, alongÌýwith works by artists, students, colleagues, friends, and protégés, including Alison Saar ’78, Howard Smith, Harmon Outlaw, Claude Lewis, andÌýothersÌýwill be on display.Ìý
