The Scripps Access Initiative is breaking down financial barriers by providing exceptional, under-resourced students with scholarship support to pursue a transformative Scripps education, with 19 students receiving full-tuition support in 2025–26 and $15 million already raised toward its $20 million goal. Through SAI and the broader Scripps Forward campaign, Scripps is investing in greater access and a diverse, dynamic community where students can thrive and shape their futures.

At Scripps, talent and promise matter more than family income. The Scripps Access Initiative (SAI) is turning that belief into action by helping exceptional, under-resourced students pursue a transformative Scripps education.Ìý

The Impact of AccessÌý

In the 2025–26 academic year:Ìý

  • 19 students received full-tuition support through the Scripps Access Initiative.Ìý
  • $770,078 was awarded to students through SAI.Ìý
  • $163,926 of that support came from SAI endowments.Ìý

And in 2024–25, 9 percent of Scripps students were first-generation college students, reflecting the College’s continued commitment to building a community enriched by students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.Ìý

These numbers represent students who can say yes to the opportunity to attend Scripps—and the chance to be free to shape their futures alongside a vibrant community of peers.Ìý

At Scripps, Students are Free to…Ìý

SAI is a transformational investment in the future of Scripps. The College seeks to raise more than $20 million by 2032 to provide multiple four-year scholarships. With $15 million already raised, we are 75 percent of the way toward our goal.Ìý

When fully funded, SAI will support up to 50 new students with aid packages covering tuition, room, and board.Ìý

Because cost remains one of the greatest barriers to enrollment, increasing scholarship support will enable Scripps to welcome more high-achieving students who might otherwise be unable to afford a Scripps education. Their presence, perspectives, and experiences will strengthen the cultural, intellectual, geographic, and socioeconomic vibrancy at the heart of our community—and of a liberal arts education.Ìý

Investing in the Next CenturyÌý

As Scripps looks toward its next century, we are currently undertaking Scripps Forward: The Centennial Campaign—a future-focused fundraising effort anchored by the pillars of access, innovation, and community. Over the next three years, we aim to surpass $100 million in gifts to secure a future of infinite possibility for the next century of women leaders.Ìý

Shasta Conner ’28 on Accessing Her FutureÌý

Access means investing in generational change. By enrolling more low- and middle-income students, Scripps can build a student body that reflects the socioeconomic plurality of our world and helps position high-achieving students for professional and personal success.Ìý

“I chose Scripps because I wanted a place that values intellectual curiosity, community, and interdisciplinary learning. I found all of that and more here.â€Ìý

“Being a first-generation college student means everything to me—it’s about breaking cycles, carrying my family’s hopes, and creating opportunities that didn’t exist before,â€ says Shasta Conner ’28, a neuroscience major at Scripps. “I chose Scripps because I wanted a place that values intellectual curiosity, community, and interdisciplinary learning. I found all of that and more here.â€Ìý

Investments in programs such as Scripps College Academy, First-Generation @ Scripps, and the Summer Science Immersion Program help create the immersive, holistic educational experience every student deserves.Ìý

“I chose neuroscience because of personal experiences growing up in a rural area where access to mental health care was limited,â€ explains Conner. “I’ve seen firsthand how gaps in care, empathy, and understanding affect people. Neuroscience gives me a way to bridge science with compassion.â€Ìý

The Scripps DifferenceÌý

With the continued support of our Scripps community, we can ensure that exceptional students have not only the opportunity to attend Scripps, but also the resources to thrive here and carry the transformative power of a Scripps education into the world.Ìý

“I want to sincerely thank the alums, faculty, staff, parents, and families who support scholarship aid,â€ says Conner. “Your generosity makes a real difference by providing access to an education that might otherwise be out of reach. Thank you for helping build a diverse and dynamic Scripps community.â€Ìý
