Professor Branfman curated and performed the following works:
- “Shakti Rising,� a series of choreographed workshops and storytelling sessions with formerly incarcerated women negotiating reentry, Sacramento, CA, May 2019;
- “Embodied Landscapes,� a full-length evening of two readapted works, “Janie� and “Angee’s Journey� centered on human landscapes that surround the prison industrial complex, at Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archives, Berkeley, CA, June 2019.
She completed the following artist residencies:
- Directed an eight-week session of dancing and choreographing inside the men’s medium-security prison California Rehabilitation Center, Norco, California, June – July 2019;
- Served as choreographic advisor for an upcoming show with Phoenix Players Theatre Group a renowned incarcerated theatre company inside Auburn State Penitentiary, the oldest New York state men’s maximum-security prison, Auburn, New York, August 2019;
- Blue Front House artist creative residency, Bentonia, MS, July – Aug. 2019;
- Orleans Parish Prison dance residency including workshops and conversations with incarcerated women inside the Orleans County jail, New Orleans, LA, August 2019.
